A/N: So yeah, I got a little frustrated by the lack of actual kissing (and tongue!) so... It's very short though.


“Y’know, maybe we should get married,” he said. Just like that, at the most unexpected moment I could have imagined. Then again, I didn’t think he’d ever ask me to marry him. Not that I don’t think he loves me or anything, but it’s something we never talked about, and honestly, I haven’t exactly been very positive about weddings and such over the years.

But there it was, he asked me to be his wife, or something to that effect, and I freaked, just a little bit. Should’ve known the damn bee would sting me. Maybe it was one of his experiments. I remained kind of speechless for a second there. Apart from not having thought about him asking me, I’d never thought about answering that question either.

He started busying himself with taking the stinger out of the palm of my hand, softly repeating his question, and suddenly I found myself interrupting him with a ‘yes’.

I, Sara Sidle, said ‘yes’ to a proposal. Seriously, how strange is that? The world must be coming to an end, but what a way to go.

“Yes, let’s get married!” I beamed, and I can’t really remember a happier time in my life, except for maybe –y’know- when I found out I was still alive and Gil was with me in that chopper and such. Although this was an entirely different kind of happy. Exhilarating, shocking, terrifying, completely unreal, and yet absolutely thrilling, and amazing.

It was kind of like the first time we had sex. We were both so nervous, and scared, but we knew this was the way, the only way, and we just had to do this, for us.

I wanted to kiss him, and he obviously wanted to do the same because we both leaned in at the same time, forgetting about the masks. Shit.

“I hate bees,” he said. I just laughed at him.

He closed the crate, or whatever you might call it, and took me inside. The moment we were outside the bees reach, he took of his mask, and mine, and he pushed me up against a wall and kissed me.

Obviously we’ve done that a lot over the past two years, so it wasn’t really something new, but this was without a doubt different from any kiss we shared before. We have gone from friends, to co-workers, to bed-buddies, to lovers, to secret-affair-havers, to practically living together in secret, to being openly in love, to being engaged over the past nine years.

I can only speak for myself of course, but to me the level of intimacy has increased with every turn our relationship has taken. And this new level is taking my breath away.

Tearing my lips away from his hungry mouth, I breathed in his ear, “if I didn’t have to get back to my case…Hmm…”

“Dinner tonight, to celebrate?” he asked.

“I think it’s best if we order in.”

Let’s just say that Denali’s have a lot of room in the back, I got back to my case half an hour late, and I’m not completely sure my clothes would’ve passed an ALS test…
